When it comes to pet grooming, one of the most basic decisions to make is whether to go for a corded or cordless clipper. Each one of the two has its advantages and disadvantages. When it comes to convenience, it’s the cordless clippers that carry the day.
These kinds of clippers have rechargeable batteries. They do not have to be used while plugged into a wall plug. Needless to say, they are highly portable.
Since some dog breeds are quite playful (hello poodle owners), a cordless trimmer offers better maneuverability. But obviously, no two trimmers are made exactly the same. In that regard, it’s ideal to only work with the best cordless dog clippers.
What constitutes this? In the next few lines, we shall be talking about some of the clippers that we believe provide the best value for anyone looking for a cordless unit.

Best Cordless Dog Clippers - Review
1. Wahl Professional ARCO Cordless Clipper Kit
This 5-in-1 clipper kit is known for its precise trimming and reliability when it comes to accessing those hard-to-reach areas. It particularly works well at trimming the paws and ears. Even better, the clipper is quite light in weight making it quite maneuverable.
Looking to trim your pooch at different fur lengths? The good news is that this unit provides you with 5 blades to switch through. These are #9, #10, #15, #30, and #40.
It’s important to note that different shaving tasks call for different settings and, therefore, this kind of flexibility matters a lot.
A common challenge with cordless clippers is recharge time and battery life. In that regard, the ARCO provides some pretty decent specs. It takes 75 minutes to fully recharge and offers an 80-minute runtime. Of course, the battery tends to lose memory over time.
2. Oster 078004-000-000 Volt Cordless Pet Clippers
If you’re willing to pay a premium for a really well-made clipper, think about this one from Oster. For starters, it comes with a Li-Ion battery which is quite powerful. As such, it does a marvelous job in shaving matted fur and so forth. Oster clippers for dog/pets is one of the leading clippers.
Its motor provides you with a single-speed setting of 2,400 SPM. Its sheer power is backed up by the Li-Ion battery which is capable of lasting for 120-minute on a full charge. The best part is that replacement batteries are readily available as well.
So, you can always keep a replacement battery handy for easy swapping when you want to shave for long without interruptions.
In our view, this is a truly well-made clipper. In fact, its blades are made from the CryogenX technology meaning that it’s sharpened and expertly finished for optimal results.
3. Wahl Pro Series Cordless Dog Clippers 9766
If you’re on the market for a really cheap cordless dog clipper under $100, this one from Wahl might just be the one you need. It’s relatively quiet and provides you with an ample 120 minutes of run time. Its lithium-ion battery provides you with uncompromised cutting power.
Besides the trimmer, you also get a kit that comprises guide combs that one can easily use to achieve the ideal cot length. On top of that, the trimming blades are designed to be self-sharpening. As such, you can comfortably use this unit to tame most if not all pet fur types.
In our view, these clippers work really well in most cases. Their charge lasts for quite a long time. Plus you also get a round tip grooming scissor as part of the kit which is quite handy.
The only downside with it is that it’s quite loud. However, most dogs don’t seem to mind the noise.
There are also some users who have complained that the clipper gets quite hot when used for long. They, however, seem to work just fine for shaving one or two dogs per day. If you’re a commercial pet groomer, you might want to look for another more efficient unit.
4. Wahl Bravura Lithium-Ion Cordless Pet, Dog & Cat Clipper
Wahl is one of the popular brands when it comes to the production of clippers for dogs / pets. Indeed, the Bravura is one of the best shavers you’re likely to come across from them. It’s a 5-in-1 adjustable unit providing you with the flexibility needed for shaving different pets.
We like the fact that the Bravura packs a powerful 90-minute run-time on a full charge. While at it, it operates quietly and remains cool even when operated for several hours.
It, however, tends to overheat when used in high vibration for long, continuous hours.
Another awesome attribute of the bravura is that it operates powerfully until the battery power is completely depleted. And once depleted, it only takes 60 minutes to recharge fully. Of course, you can get replacement batteries to avoid any downtime during the recharge time.

5. Bousnic Cordless 2-Speed Dog Clippers
One thing that attracted us to this clipper is the fact that it has garnered many positive reviews on Amazon. The manufacturer describes it as a low noise unit. It’s rated as one of the best dog clippers under 50.
We honestly think that this is a really cool clipper for the money. It, however, seems to struggle with matted fur. Luckily, there is a turbo set functionality which enables you to get the most from it.
If you are going to invest in this unit, it’s important to make sure that you are dealing with light fur. Otherwise, if you push it to the limits, it might just backfire. That said, the turbo mode helps a lot at the hour of need.
6. Andis Pet ProClip Clipper 68065
Andis is, no doubt, a brand to trust when it comes to the manufacture of pet clippers. Their ProClip unit packs a lithium-ion battery which is capable of serving you for a nonstop 2-hour session.
In other words, you can comfortably use it to trim a pet or two if you’re quick. What’s more? Its detachable battery recharges quite fast, typically within 1 hour. You can always get a spare one to prevent the downtime when recharging.
Yet another awesome attribute of this unit is that it provides you with adjustable blade lengths. This saves you the hassle of having to manually change blades in between.
7. PetTech Professional Cordless Pet Grooming Clippers
The PetTech dog grooming set is an awesome set to get considering its attractive price tag. Indeed, the unit is quite well-made and quite comfortable to operate at multiple angles. And unless you really push it to the limits, you don’t need to worry about it overheating.
That said, it is not really a bad boy. It really struggles to trim thick hair and matted fur. So, we’d recommend it for light grooming.
Again, it’s worth appreciating that the unit is best suited for light grooming. Its price is cheaper than that of a typical visit to the groomer.
However, it’s not all rosy with this unit. First, the entire set doesn’t provide you with the much-needed guide combs. So, unless you are really confident about shaving, the set might be tricky to use.
We were also not impressed with the user-manual that the unit comes with. We wish that the directions could have been a bit clearer. Other than that, this is a good machine if you’re looking for a small or medium-sized machine and not a heavy-duty one.
8. Oster Turbo 2 Speed A5 Heavy Duty Cordless Animal Grooming Clippers
Don’t let all its fancy features fool you, this is a mere entry-level professional clipper in our view. They are fairly light and relatively powerful. However, if you’re dealing with a dog that’s prone to mats, the blade may get stuck.
So, if you’re going to invest in this unit, we’d recommend treating the matted fur in advance. Also, you need to careful when using the #10 blade that’s provided with this unit. It’s designed to cut the fur down to the skin level.
You really don’t want to trim your doggie to the skin level especially when winter is approaching. Yet another drawback with this trimmer is that it tends to overheat quite fast. Fortunately, it doesn’t overheat to the extent of causing burns.
9. Wahl Pro Series 09591-2100 Deluxe Clippers
If you’re all about doing pad work and touch-up works on pets, the Pro Series from Wahl is your best bet. It’s a one-speed clipper and doesn’t have an interchangeable head meaning that it limits you quite a lot.
On a positive note, it’s quite maneuverable and packs quite some power within. Its single blade is designed to be self-sharpening and so you don’t have to keep sharpening it for full performance.
Another thing is that Wahl has so far built a solid reputation for itself. We think that this good reputation continues with this relatively well-made clipper.
The Buying Guide
What are the key factors to consider when buying cordless dog clippers? You might be wondering. Well, the first factor we’d like to highlight is the battery life. Generally, Lithium-Ion batteries tend to outlast any other battery types.
Please also consider the recharge time specified for the unit. The faster the unit recharges the better.
Besides that, it’s worth factoring in the motor power of the clipper. An ideal cordless clipper is one that can be used for both light groomings as well as heavy-duty tasks.
While at it, it’s worth acknowledging that some clippers come with a few extras. We’re talking about guide combs, cleaning gear, extra blades and so forth. For a versatile grooming experience, it makes perfect sense to grab such offer as well.
Which One Is The Best?
Having considered all the clippers included in the reviews above, our editors settled on the Oster Volt Cordless Li-Ion Battery-Powered Clippers. It has a fantastic battery life, is highly powerful and also operates quietly.
It’s, however, slower than some advanced Andis models. But unless you’re a professional groomer with a really long line of clients to attend to, chances are that you’ll not even notice this. So, we highly recommend it.
The importance of grooming your pooch’s coat can never be underestimated. In that case, the best cordless dog clippers can come to your rescue. We hope that the buying guidelines provided above will be of help in your quest for an easy-to-maintain, easy-to-maneuver machine.
